1. Brewer

Summary:

Under the direction of the Head Brewer, the Brewer will be primarily responsible for cleaning, cellar work, assisting in packaging and some wort production at Mikkeller Brewing NYC. We are looking for a versatile and passionate individual to help us grow Mikkeller NYC.

Brewery Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning and maintenance responsibilities including but not limited to:
    • CIP and tank preparation of all fermentation, brite, serving vessels and draught lines
    • Maintain clean keg inventory
    • Keep a clean working environment across the entire brewery including the exteriors of tanks, floors, and walls
    • Help ensure mechanical elements of facility are operating properly
  • Cold-side operations including but not limited to:
    • Execution of fermentation schedule
    • Dry-hopping and cold-side additions
    • Transfer and/or filtration of finished beer
    • Carbonation
    • Kegging
  • Accurate and consistent record keeping including but not limited to:
    • Fermentation logs
    • Transfer and process records
    • QC analytics
    • Packaging records
    • Inventory counts and FIFO management
  • Hot-side work may include:
    • Operation of brew house from grain-in to knockout
    • Maintenance of the system as needed

Canning Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain a 4-head filler canning line to include:
    • A de-palletizer
    • Seamer
    • Ink jet coder
    • Labeler
    • PakTech applicator
  • Work with team to ensure that the product meets quality standards before, during and after canning
  • Work with machine operator/truck driver to ensure that packaged product is efficiently taken from the brewery to cold storage at our off-site warehouse

Quality Control Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe working environment within the QC area and brewery
  • Monitor all aspects of fermentation (extract, pH, etc.)
  • Measurement of dissolved gases in wort, fermentation, BBT and finished product
  • Yeast Management – brinking, propagation, cell counting and viability testing
  • Final package fill level and seam quality review
  • Monitor proper chemical usage/titrations in brewery, cleaning, packaging operations, etc.
  • Potentially develop, review, and revise SOPs within the QA department
  • Troubleshooting skills and proactive root cause analysis experience and mentality
  • Computer literacy: Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Data logging and analysis
  • Perform: forced diacetyl tests, wort stability tests, sensory evaluation, calibration and maintenance of analysis equipment

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency
  • A valid driver's license and a good driving record
  • Experience cellaring in a production environment required
  • Experience brewing in a production environment preferred
  • Experience operating a canning line in a production environment preferred
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask
  • Ability to accurately and consistently record data both in physical records and on computers/tablets
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively within a small team on the floor
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with management and superiors
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and represent the company both inside and outside of the brewery
  • Passion and strong personal knowledge of the industry and market

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 150 pounds
  • Possess the manual dexterity sufficient to operate a wide variety of small hand tools
  • While performing the duties the employee is:
    • Required to stand, crouch, lift and climb ladders
    • Constantly wear appropriate PPE for a given task

2. Assistant Brewer

Summary:

3. DRIVER AND WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT

Mikkeller Brewing NYC is seeking a motivated and capable Driver and Warehouse Assistant to support our existing operations at the off-site warehouse located in Woodside, NY.

Summary:

The Driver and Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for executing the delivery, receipt, and maintenance of goods internally and externally transacted by Mikkeller Brewing NYC at the company's off-site warehouse in Woodside, NY. The Driver and Warehouse Assistant will report to the Logistics Manager to support and maintain functional operations of Production, FOH, and Sales segments of Mikkeller Brewing NYC. The individual will ensure that raw material and finished goods inventory is accurately tracked and moved between the brewery, the off-site warehouse, and externally to special accounts.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Maintain daily operations including but not limited to:
    • Safe working practices
    • Internal inventory transfers between the main brewery and the off-site warehouse using company vehicle
    • Receive and check in deliveries arriving at the off-site warehouse
    • Accurately pick and pack local wholesale orders
    • Accurately pick and pack special wholesale and retail orders such as:
      • International shipments
      • In-state and out-of-state festivals
      • Special events and sales
      • Direct to consumer home deliveries
    • Timely delivery of finished goods to special sales within the five boroughs using company vehicle
    • Regular inventory reorganization and labeling
    • Warehouse facilities maintenance
  • Work closely with the Logistics, Operations, and Production teams to ensure the proper allocation of packaged goods inventory into different physical warehouses
  • Uphold strict quality control standards, ensuring that raw materials and finished goods are:
    • Maintaining first-in-first-out rotation of both raw materials and finished goods inventories
    • Stored, packed, and transported securely
    • Stored and transported at in the proper temperature conditions.
  • Under the direction of the Logistics Manager, maintain precise and up to date inventory across all five business segments contained within the off-site warehouse
  • Conduct monthly inventory counts of all five business segments within the warehouse
  • Some weekend and evening work required as needed
  • Other tasks assigned as needed

Skills and Abilities:

  • 2+ years of warehousing experience
  • 2+ years of driving a truck larger than 20 feet
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Ability to lift/move 50lbs is required
  • Forklift experience is required
  • Ability and willingness to have a flexible schedule is required
  • Possess a strong attention to detail and aptitude for multitasking while staying organized
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Ability to appropriately prioritize tasks, problem solve, and make swift decisions both autonomously and as a part of a team
  • A valid driver's license with a clean record

4. SEASONAL LINE COOK

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 2 years experience working in high volume bars / restaurants
  • Be familiar with all forms of cooking, with a focus on the fryer, flat top and oven
  • Have a firm grasp on temping burgers
  • Have general knowledge of food items, ingredients and spices
  • Follow proper cooler / freezer usage procedures including air tight storage, dating and FIFO as per health code specifications
  • Work organized and clean to the highest standard and requirement of health code. This includes maintaining a clean workstation, kitchen, and dish area
  • Exhibit high level communication skills. This includes a complete understanding of the language(s) of the work place, be able to read and execute recipes (in grams), and maintain open lines of communication with all team members / supervisors
  • Exhibit a work ethic of efficiency and high energy
  • Possess superior time management skills
  • Be able to maintain a positive attitude in high stress situations
  • Be willing to go above and beyond the job description
  • Be able to work on holidays / weekends
  • Have the flexibility to pick up / cover shifts when needed
